Dressing the (summer)bump – Liberty print jumpsuit

Summer really has arrived, so I’ve been combing through my closet seeking out summer dresses and other comfy light garments….with an expandable waist of course.

The first thing I found was this home-made, second-hand jumpsuit, made from Liberty fabric. I bought it for £12.50 two years ago at the outdoors Greenwich Clocktower Market (open Sat, Sun & bank holidays 10-5).

It always had a very loose-fitted waist and before I had to wear it with a belt. Not so much anymore.

And if it gets a bit more chilly, I’ll wear it with my beloved old Camilla Stærk jacket.

On my feet are the even more cherished (they live on my feet every summer) glitter-infused jelly shoes.

Romper suit and jumpsuit from Greenwich Clocktower Market

English: When I wrote about my romper suit yesterday I suddenly remembered that I had another one in the closet. This one is black with multi-coloured moons and stars. The pattern reminds me of when I was a child. I would take my crayons and draw a rainbow of colours, cover them with black and then scratch words and patterns with a scissor to make the colours magically reappear through the dark.

English: I bought the romper suit last summer at the outdoors Greenwich Clocktower Market (open Sat, Sun & bank holidays 10-5) which is a lot better than the touristy Greenwich Market. The Clocktower Market is down-to-earth and is bascially a square filled with stalls selling retro, vintage and second-hand clothes, jewellery and furniture. I bought the romper at a stall that specialises in hand-picked clothes from the 70s, 80s and 90s. I also got this home-sewn jumpsuit. It can be worn in two ways and is made from Liberty fabric. Price: 25 pounds for the two.
